Artist Matti Järvenpää has had profound teachers, such as Reijo Meller and Art professor Onni Oja- both well-known artists in Finland. Järvenpää is familiar with classical painting techniques, taking advantage of this in today's modern expression. Matti Järvenpää contiously seeks for new information and methods with positive independence. The subjects in his paintings vary along change in life: cartoons as a young boy, beginning paintings in his twenties. First subjects were of the nature and sea, which had become familiar to Matti also with work. Later came animal subjects, other nature environments and surrounding as well as his now known female figures in oil.

Järvenpää is a musical and social painter, who has the ability to renew his work and has a courageous, but positive style. This differs from the general expections and attitude put upon artists in the country. Matti has created his own format in work, a strong professional expertise and has been able to work as an artist for a long time in Finland, showing joy in his work and methods.
